Amazon Software Update 5.3.2 brings Alexa Voice Assistant Support

Amazon has released a Software Update 5.3.2 with the complete support of Company’s most talked Voice Assistant functionality, Alexa. While a few people already had started to receive the update but now Amazon has rolled out the update officially.

Now users can directly ask questions, stream music & control music playback, get weather and traffic updates, can order products from Amazon over voice, listen to audio books and can even get the Kindle ebooks read aloud for them by using Alexa Voice Assistant .

Compatible Fire Tablets for Software Update 5.3.2

However only the 5th and 6th generation tablets will be getting glimpse of the Alexa. These generation include Fire HD 10 and Fire HD 8 tablets along with the most sold entry level $49 fire tablet. It means Fire HDX, HD 7 and HD 6 tablet won’t be getting Alexa Assistant Support.

How to download and install the Software 5.3.2 update?

The software update 5.3.2 automatically downloads and installs on compatible fire tablets through wireless internet. However, if you are one of the lucky fire tablet users who can’t wait anymore then try the installation manually. What’s new in Software update;

  • Now you can use Amazon’s Voice assistant, Alexa. Through which as written before you can ask question, get the weather and traffic information, find local businesses and restaurants, control smart home devices, switch between profiles, discover Amazon Music, play music, listen eBooks and audio books and vice versa.
  • The software update also come with general improvements in performance.

Using Alexa Voice Assistant

To activate Alexa Voice Assistant functionality after installing the update, hold the device Home button a while until a blue echo line appears. When the line appears, start asking any question or give instructions, Alexa will do for you.

But do keep in mind that Alexa will be automatically disabled after turning the parental controls ON. According to Amazon, both Alexa and Parental control couldn’t be activated at the same time. The company has set this limitation to keep your kids away from the Alexa functionality.
