As we know, PSP had been a huge impact on gamers community since its launch in 2004. It succeeded to provide real Play Station like experience in highly portable environment.
But, what when most of the super common tasks are moving toward smart devices? So that’s why many gamers also search for the ways to play PSP games on their commonly used Tablet or Smartphone.
If you also want to play PSP games on your android Tablet or Smartphone then you are at right place as I’m going to write down a quick guide on how to play PSP games on Android Tablet.
How to Play PSP Games on Android Tablet or Phone
Yes! Fortunately, the smartphones and tablets can also run PSP games on it as long they come with superior hardware. The hardware of the android devices is getting upgraded day by day which also help them to run more power and graphic intensive games. This task to play PSP Games on android tablet can come to reality via PSP emulators.
However, there are dozens of PSP emulators available to download from Google Play Store. But, here we recommend PPSSPP emulator which is free and full of PSP awesomeness.
PPSSPP is completely free along with ads but its paid version with golden icon removes the ads. You can download the free version right now from Google Play Store. It works on android 2.3 and above.
Mostly the performance of games played via this emulator depends on hardware of your android tablet. Some games may work slow and other even may not run at all. So, mid to high-end android tablet or phone recommended for this purpose.
While some of the working games (listed by PPSSPP) are:
- Dragon Ball Z
- Little Big Planet
- Burnout Legends, Burnout Dominator
- Final Fantasy: Crisis Cor, Type:0
- Monster Hunter 2 Unite and 3:HD Remake
- Tekken 6 (I have checked it) and Tekken: Dark Resurrection
- Grand Theft Auto LCS / VCS
These all games are listed officially by PPSSPP while I have only tested Tekken 6. It works perfectly if you have high-end android device. I also optimized the settings for the game.
Unlike the physical PSP which discontinued 2014, the app doesn’t packed with any PSP game, so you will have to add ISO image or .CSO file of any PSP game in your android tablet or phone to play the game without buying real PSP. For more guide on creating ISO image and how to get games follow this page.
You must have ISO Image located in PPSSPP folder on your android tablet to run a game. So move the ISO image or CSO file to the PSP emulator folder. After launch the PPSSPP app and just navigate to the folder in which the ISO image is placed. Now, Tap on the game image to start the game just like users do in PSP.
As without PSP buttons you can’t play PSP games so the buttons will displayed on the screen when you run any game. You can’t interact with screen while playing a game and the only way to interact within the game are display buttons. While your device back button will open up the app menu for the game in which you can change the settings and save your game state. The save state option becomes more friendly when you are worried about losing a round in Tekken 6, like I did many times. 😀
You can also optimize the settings for each game. For more info checkout this Guide on changing PPSSPP settings for the maximum performance.
PPSSPP will boost up your gaming experience for PSP. This is the emulator app which has power to bring back your old PSP amusement right on your Android tablet or you are like the most others Tablet or Smartphone users who don’t want to spend more money on an extra gaming machine.
While you will love to play PSP Games on tablet specifically due to its larger screen size as compared to PSP.
