It’s been three years since Samsung launched its rugged tablet named Galaxy Tab Active and now after following weeks of rumors, the successor known as Galaxy Tab Active 2 finally gets officially uncovered. Samsung’s new rugged tablet was reported as in the progress for the first time in news about four months ago.
Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 is MILSTD-810 certified which assures that it can survive severe pressure, environments, temperature, vibration, and drops. It comes with a 1.2mm anti-shock inbox protective cover. The tablet is also water (IP68 rated) and dust resistant, and this time have more improved display panel for gloved and wet touch.
The successor of original Galaxy Tab Active has biometric authentication with a new fingerprint sensor on home button with more improvement. The tablet also features facial recognition for a hands-free access. Which means you would also be able to unlock your device with facial recognition sensor when wearing gloves. It comes with a S Pen Stylus support for extreme working conditions.
Separately, Samsung’s Marketing Manager of Netherlands said they have designed the Galaxy Tab 2 Active based on users’ feedback. The tablet is brought to market by considering the demanding professions worldwide. With this aim, Samsung also made partnership with some worldwide marketing leaders including IBM.
Samsung’s rugged tablet can meet the demand of workers belonging to many industries. Like its durable design could be a great match for users working in construction based. While users belonging to law enforcement sector may take benefit of its many vehicle mounting options. Being a device aimed for global work force it can also serve best as an all-purpose tablet for any user.
Galaxy Tab Active 2 comes with 8-Inch HD display panel with resolution of 1200×800 pixel. The screen touch is capable to work with gloves. Under the hood the tablet is powered by a 1.6GHz Exynos 7880 processor, 3GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage with SDCard slot. It features an 8MP rear back camera and 5MP front camera. It has 4,450mAh user replaceable battery and runs on Android 7.1 Nougat. The tablet comes in black color and have both Wifi and 4G variants.
Samsung will ship Galaxy Tab Active 2 to some markets this month, while market names are yet to be considered. There’s no revelation about price but rumors suggest it will cost around 500 Euros.
